As Term 2 comes to a close, we invite our families to watch our Principal’s Wrap-Up video with Campus Principal Rob Verreynne.
It has been a memorable term filled with meaningful learning experiences, community celebrations, student achievements and opportunities for our students to grow in confidence, character and faith.
Thank you to our students, staff and families for your ongoing support and partnership throughout the term. We wish all families a safe, restful and blessed holiday break, and look forward to welcoming students back for Term 3 on Tuesday 14 July.
Our Year 3 students recently welcomed families to their Neighbours of Australia Culminating Event, proudly sharing the learning completed throughout the unit.
Students presented their Keynote projects and 3D models, showcasing their understanding of Australia’s neighbouring countries and cultures. Year 2 students also visited to see what they will be learning next year.
“We were all very excited and felt proud to share our hard work with everyone.”
Written by Rachel O. (Year 3).
Students Advance To Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee
Congratulations to our Year 4 students who took part in the recent Year 4 Spelling Bee.
30 students competed in a challenging and engaging event, demonstrating excellent preparation, resilience, and spelling skills. After several rounds, 15 finalists were selected to represent the College in the Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee.
The event also included audience participation, with spot prizes awarded for correctly spelling challenge words.
Well done to all students involved. We are proud of their effort, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm.
In celebration of National Environment Day, our school proudly participated in a special Gold Coast Council initiative focused on environmental sustainability and community action. Twenty enthusiastic students from Years 4, 5, and 6 were nominated to represent our school in a meaningful tree-planting program designed to enhance local green spaces.
Working alongside a dedicated team of environmental officers and professional gardeners, our students joined peers from Lords and Pimpama State Schools at the beautiful Ormeau Parklands. Armed with trowels, gloves, and tube stock, the group set out with energy and purpose and together, they achieved something truly remarkable. Over the course of the morning, an impressive 2,000 native trees and grasses were planted, contributing to the restoration and enrichment of the natural environment.
It was inspiring to see students demonstrate teamwork, responsibility, and care for the environment while contributing to the restoration of local green spaces. We are proud of the way they represented the College and helped make a positive impact in our local community.
Pimpama Students Achieve Strong Results
King’s Pimpama students achieved excellent results at the recent Interschool Chess Tournament, with students competing across A, B, C, and D divisions.
Our students demonstrated focus, strategy, and perseverance, with several strong individual and team achievements. Highlights included first place team results for King’s PC 1 and King’s PC 8, individual first place results in B and C divisions, and a number of merit ribbons across the competition.
Two King’s teams also qualified for the Gold Coast Finals in Term 3, which is an outstanding achievement. Congratulations to all students who represented the College so well, and thank you to our coaches and families for their support.
Our Year 7 students recently enjoyed an incredible camp experience at Alexandra Headlands, filled with adventure, personal growth, and opportunities to strengthen friendships.
Throughout camp, students embraced surfing, raft building, high ropes, team challenges, beach games, and a sunrise walk. It was wonderful to see students step outside their comfort zones, encourage one another, and grow in confidence and independence.
Each evening concluded with worship and devotions led by our Chaplaincy team, creating meaningful opportunities for students to reflect on their faith and connect with one another.
Fletcher W. (Year 7) reflected, “I think it was one of the best camps ever. Everyone’s favourite was the bodyboarding, whether you were riding waves back to shore or watching others fly past you.”
Aaliyah D. (Year 7) shared, “After dinner we had devotions. It was amazing; people got prayed for, played games, and heard messages from the chaplains.”
Evangeline D. (Year 7) said, “Year 7 Camp was an exhilarating experience, full of laughs, adventures, building friendships, and fun for everyone.”
Thank you to our staff and Chaplaincy team for making this memorable experience possible.
Our Year 9 students recently enjoyed an exciting camp experience in Melbourne, immersing themselves in the city’s history, culture, and faith community.
The trip began with a visit to Queen Victoria Market before students joined Planetshakers Church for praise and worship. Over the following days, students explored significant locations including the Holocaust Museum, Shrine Of Remembrance, Melbourne Cricket Ground, and Skydeck.
Each evening concluded with devotions and worship at Planetshakers, which became a highlight of the trip for many students.
Harry S. (Year 9) reflected, “The best part was 100 percent the Skydeck. I got some beautiful photos and the view was magnificent. Staying together in our groups made me feel a sense of belonging and security.”
The camp provided students with opportunities to grow in independence, strengthen friendships, and create lasting memories while experiencing one of Australia’s most vibrant cities.
Year 10 students participated in the Senior For A Day program on Monday, 15 June, giving them the opportunity to explore senior subjects before making subject selections next term.
Students selected six subjects to experience, helping them affirm or reassess their plans for senior school. The day also supported their Senior Education and Training (SET) Planning as they begin mapping goals for senior schooling and future pathways.
Students also heard from senior students about subject choices, adjusted pathways, and managing schoolwork successfully.
Student Spotlight – Riley M.
Congratulations to Riley M., who competed earlier this term at the Emerging Socceroos Championships in Sydney, representing Queensland in the U16 Boys Football Team.
Riley performed tremendously well throughout the tournament, with his team narrowly losing to the eventual champions, New South Wales, in the quarter-finals.
Well done, Riley, on this outstanding achievement and for representing Queensland with excellence.
Congratulations to Fletcher W. and Toby Y., who have recently returned from overseas tours with the Australian Futsal Association.
Fletcher W. competed in Malaysia and performed very well, receiving high praise from his coaches. Toby Y. competed in the Philippines and was named Defender Of The Tournament.
We congratulate both students on these outstanding achievements and the way they represented themselves, their teams, and the College.
Kings Pimpama proudly had 22 teams compete at the Gold Coast Titles, with both experienced and beginner players taking to the court. It was fantastic to see such strong participation and commitment across all levels.
Our teams delivered excellent performances throughout the tournament, achieving impressive results across multiple age groups. We came incredibly close to securing championships in several divisions, with the following teams finishing as runners-up after reaching their respective finals: U10 Boys, U10 Girls, U11 Boys, U11 Girls, U12 Girls, U14 Boys, and U16 Girls.
A huge thank you to all of our coaches and parents for their ongoing support and dedication across the tournament days. Your contribution played a vital role in the success and development of our players.

Girls Qualify For CBSQ Shield
For the first time, King’s Junior Secondary girls had the opportunity to qualify for the CBSQ Shield through the Wildcard Tournament, and our students rose to the challenge.
King’s entered the youngest team in the competition, with four Year 9 students, three Year 8 students, and one Year 7 student competing against older and more experienced teams. To qualify, the team needed to finish in the top two of their five-team pool.
The girls opened with a strong 34–29 win against Springfield State High School, followed by a 37–23 victory over Cannon Hill Anglican College. Miah R. played a key role in this game, scoring 19 points, including four three-pointers.
King’s then defeated Emmaus College 32–18, securing a top-two finish and qualification for the next stage. In their final pool game against Unity College, King’s produced some of their best basketball, leading 19–8 at half-time before Unity fought back to claim a 30–24 win.
As the youngest team in the tournament, the girls exceeded expectations and demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and determination. A special congratulations to Bernice K., who made her representative debut.
The team has now earned a place in the CBSQ Shield Tournament in August, which is a fantastic achievement and an exciting sign of what is ahead.
Queensland Music Teachers’ Association Composer’s Competition
Congratulations to Josephine, who was awarded first place in the Queensland Music Teachers’ Association Inc. Composer’s Competition.
This is a wonderful achievement and a reflection of her dedication, creativity, and God-given talent. Josephine’s ability to not only play the piano but also compose her own original piece is something to be celebrated.
We are proud to see students continuing to grow in confidence, excellence, and creativity as they develop their gifts.

On Monday 26 April, 16 students and 5 staff departed for the Solomon Islands as part of the College’s International Missions Trip. Across 8 days, students served alongside the local community through school chapels, classroom activities, youth programs, church services, and outreach opportunities.
A particularly impactful experience for many students was visiting the Bethesda Disability Centre, where students witnessed the resilience, joy, and faith of individuals learning essential life skills. Students also led all aspects of the Sunday church service, including worship, testimonies, preaching, children’s ministry, and an evening encounter service.
The trip concluded with a heartfelt closing ceremony celebrating the partnership and relationships built throughout the week. For many students, the experience was life changing and provided valuable growth in confidence, gratitude, compassion, leadership, and faith.
Matthew D. reflected:
“This mission trip opened my eyes to parts of the world I would never normally get to see. The hospitality of the Solomon Islands people was incredible despite their limited resources. It reminded me how blessed we are and taught me to be more humble and appreciative.”
Another student shared:
“One part of the trip that stood out to me was visiting the Bethesda Disability Centre. Their school song reminded us that although we all have weaknesses, God is strong through them. It was such a powerful experience that challenged me to focus less on what I want and more on gratitude for what I already have.”
This term, the LIFE Team hosted a bake sale fundraiser to support local charities through our “Locals Matter” fundraiser. Inspired by the donation model used by Grill’d, every student or staff member who made a purchase received a token and could choose which charity they wanted to support. The three charities selected were Animal Welfare League, Meals for Mums, and Youth Off The Streets.
Throughout the fundraiser, it was encouraging to see students and teachers thoughtfully considering where they wanted their donation to go. The token system gave everyone the opportunity to learn about the charities and actively participate in the giving process. After all the votes were counted, Meals for Mums received the most support and was selected as the recipient of the funds raised.
We are incredibly grateful to all the staff and students who purchased items, donated, and helped make the fundraiser a success. It was great to see our school community come together to support important organisations making a difference in the lives of others.
This term, members of the LIFE Team had the opportunity to visit Ormeau State School and serve breakfast to primary school students. It was a great chance to connect with younger students, build relationships, and support the wider community. Throughout the morning, our team helped prepare and serve breakfast while also spending time talking and interacting with the students. It was encouraging to see how simple acts of kindness and conversation could make a positive impact on their day.
The outreach also gave us the opportunity to work alongside chaplains from Scripture Union and learn more about the important role they play in supporting young people. It was rewarding to be part of something that served the wider community and helped create meaningful connections with students outside of our school. Opportunities like this remind us that even small acts of service can make a positive difference in the lives of others.

This term our High School has been supporting 100% HOPE, one of King’s long‑time Mission Partners. It was started by a former King’s teacher and focuses on giving young people in Uganda a future through Christ‑centred education and strong, self‑sufficient communities.
Since 2011, King’s Alumni and Staff have travelled to Uganda to help Trishelle and the team, and this upcoming holiday, another group of staff will be going over. They’ll be taking resources with them, including the books donated by our school community.
It was great seeing how many students got involved and wanted to help. The LIFE Team was asked to help collect good‑quality books for students in Years 7–9 in Uganda, because their older students don’t have many reading or learning resources.
Our High School community was invited to bring books to PC or Reception, and every donation earned 10 Principal’s Cup points for their House. Overall, it was a meaningful way for us to support something important and make a real difference.
Recently, our Year 10–12 students hosted an outstanding Mega Chapel outreach event, bringing together more than 100 students from several local schools for an evening of worship, fellowship, and encouragement.
What made the event especially meaningful was that it was entirely student-led. From planning and promotion to worship, speaking, and running the night, our students demonstrated exceptional leadership, initiative, and a genuine heart to serve.
The evening created a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, where students connected, worshipped together, and engaged with a powerful message from God’s Word. It was inspiring to see young people step out in faith and positively influence others.
We are incredibly proud of all the students involved and grateful to our staff, volunteers, and supporting churches who helped make the event such a success.
