King’s Christian College proudly presents newly devised works exploring challenging contemporary ideas across the generations of our community.

Featuring three one-act plays:

Junior (Year 7 & 8) ‘The Island’ -
On an isolated island, a group of villagers must decide what to do with a ship-wrecked foreigner. He is different from them so they are fearful of what he is, what he might do and how he might hurt them and their families. But is that the actual reality? What would you do?

Intermediate (Year 9 & 10) ‘Meta Morph’ -
Our ensemble has spent the past semester exploring some big ideas around ‘CHANGE’ and what that looks like to various generations in our school community. We now invite you to consider how you yourselves feel about and recall ‘Change’ in your own lives and how that might be the same or vastly different from what you see in this brand-new one-act play.

Senior (Year 11 & 12) ‘Toil and Trouble’ -
Using Physical and Visual theatre styles to reimagine the narrative of Macbeth, our Seniors explore the dark voices that penetrate the characters of Macbeth and his Lady wife. Could these voices still do such damage in our own lives, and what would prevent us from succumbing to their malice and poison? Based on the condensed version of Shakespeare’s play by Nick Newlin.

These shows are unique – reimagining what we understand as theatrical and showcasing our students’ creativity and innovation through the forms of performative drama. Two performances only, so don’t miss this opportunity to experience sophisticated and exciting theatre!
