Thailand Mission Trip Changes Lives

Missions

In the September school holidays, a group of ten Year 10 and 11 students had the incredible opportunity to go on a mission trip to Thailand to help out the Rescue Mission for Children. On this trip, we were able to experience a lot of new things, step out of our comfort zones, and build new friendships with people from the Rescue Mission and among our group. The Rescue Mission for Children is located near Chiang Rai, Thailand, providing a safe home for children needing care. We were very blessed by the love, affection and joy that poured out from the children at the Rescue Mission onto us. We spent our time playing soccer with them, praising and worshipping with them, and we had the opportunity to go to their school and teach them. Spending time with them gave us a new perspective on how blessed we are and we praised God for what we have.

The theme of the trip was 'being comfortable with the uncomfortable.’ Many of us were able to step out of our comfort zones and experience new things that ultimately blessed us. A challenge we all had to overcome was building connections with the children despite the language barrier. Although it was uncomfortable at times, we overcame it and created beautiful memories with them. Some of us also had the chance to speak a message at the devotions and the church, which was nerve-wracking, but forced us to step away from what we’re used to. We are so grateful for how God moved on this trip. Although the goal was to give to the children, we were equally as blessed. It was a life-changing experience that taught us a lot and challenged our perspectives and I am so grateful we have opportunities like this at King's!
