Bridging Generations: Year 7 Students Mentor Through Reading

Logan Village

In a heartwarming display of camaraderie and mentorship, our Year 7 students recently took a delightful initiative to bond with our Prep students through the joy of reading. This engaging activity saw our older students alternating roles between attentive listeners and enthusiastic storytellers, thus fostering a nurturing environment that benefited both cohorts immensely.
The Prep students, with their boundless energy and eagerness to learn, were thrilled to share their reading journey with their senior counterparts. Meanwhile, the Year 7 students embraced the opportunity to serve as mentors, showcasing patience, encouragement, and a genuine interest in the literary adventures of their younger peers.
This initiative strengthened our students' reading skills and cultivated a sense of community and belonging within our King's community. The mutual respect and admiration that blossomed from this experience are a testament to the beautiful mentorship role our Year 7 students have created, reinforcing the values of empathy, support, and collaboration that we cherish. This memorable activity promises to be a cherished tradition, inspiring future generations to continue building bridges through the love of reading.
